Triamcinolone acetonide
Indications/Uses
Seasonal & perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr Starting dose: 2 sprays (110 mcg) into each nostril once daily. Maintenance: 1 spray (55 mcg) into each nostril once daily. Childn 6-12 yr 1 spray (55 mcg) into each nostril once daily up to 220 mcg/day, 2-5 yr Starting & max dose: 1 spray (55 mcg) into each nostril once daily.
Special Precautions
Patients already receiving alternate-day prednisolone treatment for any disease. Active or quiescent tuberculous infections of the resp tract, untreated fungal, bacterial, or systemic viral infections or ocular herpes simplex. Avoid exposure to chickenpox or measles. Recent nasal septal ulcers, nasal surgery or trauma. Pregnancy, lactation. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Rhinitis, headache, pharyngitis, epistaxis, nasal irritation, dry mucous membrane; rarely, nasal septum perforation.
